MATCH PREVIEW: NEWTOWN AFC VS ABERYSTWYTH TOWN

Town travel to The Robins' Latham Park for their penultimate game of the 2024/25 JD Cymru Premier season.

The sides have met thrice this season with the Robins having won twice and Town once. The 2024/25 JD Cymru Premier campaign kicked off at Latham Park as The Seasiders were well beaten on the day by a scoreline of 4-1 – despite Jonathan Evans giving Town the lead on the stroke of half time. Goals by Oswell x2, Lock and Roberts sealed the win for the home side in August.

Fast forward to November, and it was Town who came out on top thanks to an early goal by Niall Flint before Rico Patterson curled a stunning free kick to the top corner to send the Dias Stand into raptures! Josh Lock got one back mid-way through the second half, but Jonathan Evans sealed things on 83 minutes to secure the Black and Green victory.

February saw a close affair at Aberystwyth University Park Avenue Stadium decided by a single Jason Oswell goal on 74 minutes, followed by the dismissal of Black and Green skipper Jack Thorn, as the Robins came out on top and keep their survival hopes alive.

The circumstances of this Mid Wales Derby, however, are unlike any seen before due to Town's relegation to Tier 2 being sealed last month and Newtown now finding themselves needing to win their final two, hoping Briton Ferry Llansawel fail to pick up another point, and overturning an 11 goal difference in the process to remain at the top table.

For those unable to make the trip, the game will be broadcast live on S4C and through Sgorio's usual online channels with a kick-off time of 12:45.
