The game started slowly for Aber Reserves but on 10 mins Stuart Fraser burst through the middle forcing a great save from the keeper with his legs. Only a few minutes later a lively Fraser hit the post after good work from E Lewis on the left. The St Marys keeper was again alert on 15 mins and saved smartly from Seliarts, after a through ball from Fraser, tipping the ball around the post one handed.
Aber got their first goal on 19 minutes after a shocking bit of play from the away defence; a sloppy back pass left the keeper stranded as Hafal nipped in to strike into an empty net. Jon Hartnal in goal for Aber pulled off his first save on 23 minutes, tipping the ball over the bar.
However Aber still had the better of the first half and controlled the game even more when they scored their second on 33 minutes. Good link up play from Gwion Ap Dafydd lead to an opening for Seliarts who scored a great goal from outside the area, drilling the ball into the bottom left hand corner.
Hay St Marys started to come back into the game in the second half although it was Aber who had the first real chance of the half on 59 mins. Fraser was gifted a opportunity after a blunder from St Marys number 2 who headed the ball on to his keepers face. The keeper though, who was impressive all game reacted to Frasers striker which again hit his feet to go out for a corner.
On 64 minutes St Marys were awarded a penalty after there was an elbow in the box. The number 10 converted from the spot with a well taken pen to get them back into the game. Hartnal then had to be alert on 74 minutes to save 14's long range effort after good work from the number 9.
Number 9 continued to cause the young Aber side problems in the second half after a very quiet first half. He set up number 8 which had Hartnal scrabbling to keep it out. Right up to the last minute St Marys continued to heap on the pressure but could not find another goal, with a shot being cleared off the line in the final minute.
